Skills

Each skill has a value between 0 and 100. You gain skills by either using them or by using an NPC to train you. While you can train as many skills as you want your total Skill Cap cannot be higher than 800. Skills are each modified by a related stat which is why the skills menu has real skill and shown skill buttons. Real skill is the unmodified number while shown skill has the stat bonus added.

Training a skill through use is the only way to reach 100. There are many nuances to skill training and while most will gain in the course of normal gameplay there are all sorts of methods to gain them faster (most of which involve using a macro program such as Razor).

• Skills are subject to stat loss if you die with 5 or more short term murder counts. (Penalty applied on Resurrection)

• If your character is Hungry and Thirst your skill gain and stat gain will be much slower.

• Using a magic item with +skill can make that skill go above 100.

• Using power scrolls will cause your skill cap to raise above 100.

Training Skills from NPC's

NPC training is accessed by saying the NPC's name followed by the word Train and then the name of the skill you want trained. You can see the skills any NPC will teach by simply typing the NPC name followed by the word train. Once you enter the command words the NPC will give a price and by dropping the given amount of gold on them your skill will raise. NPC's won't raise skills above 30 points.
