Major Threats to the Realm
The Shadowlord is widely believed to be lurking in Britannia still. Just who or what he is remains to be seen, but his command of the monsters from the Underworld is legendary and if he should return from hiding now whilst none of the Lightbringers can be found it would spell doom for the fragile Britannia.
Lord Blackthorn was never directly dealt with. His Virtue laws were devastating not only to the true Virtues but to the people of the realm. Moreover, many, many people disappeared due to supposed violations of the laws and have yet to return. Some believe Blackthorn was ordering them sent into one or more of the great dungeons.
Britannia is currently leaderless. Lord British disappeared on an expedition into the Underworld and was not seen again. While there are many nobles throughout the realm, there is no heir to the throne of Britannia and too many people lust for that power. It is the mandate of the Britannian Guard to maintain the peace and insure that either Lord British returns to power or his last will and testament be followed on the matter of rulership. Now if only someone knew where that document was hidden!
